Hailing from New Jersey, Nicholas Bredimus united the worlds of software, hospitality, and airlines and forever changed all three industries. He has worked on initiatives varying from the creation of software programs that automate resource and time intensive processes to enhancing air safety and even designs for luxury houses. He’s brought remarkable passion to all these areas, too. His family tree tells you everything you need to know regarding his talents and the tremendous amount he has accomplished. Its lines can be followed as far back as the glory days of Rome, in fact Nicholas’ family tree ties in with a great part of Europe. Within the maternal branch, say, he descends from German and Scottish ancestry. Luxembourg and England are the home of Bredimus’ father’s family, though the family emigrated in the late 1800s. Once in the United States of America, the line continued to persevere and rise to the top. Nicholas, who would grow up with his sisters and brothers, was a child of a father employed as a mechanical design engineer and his wife, a nurse. He settled for a time in Arizona, Kansas City, Texas and a place named Reston in Virginia.
So what, you might ask, did Bredimus do to capitalize on his background and studies? A series of high powered roles were soon his, each as part of major airlines. Republic Airlines, Trans World Airlines (TWA), Hughes Airwest — these airlines would all at different times appoint him VP. An inspired software designer, Bredimus’ creative work with airline computer programs is arguably his greatest legacy.
His creation of aircraft maintenance management programs, now put to use throughout the airline sector although originally produced for one specific business, resulted in what is surely his most used achievement. This stands as just one of his essential designs for airlines. His hotel reservation software is on its way to becoming as commonly used as the aforementioned software, and his room booking system provided the chance for a great number of major parts of the hotel industry to integrate the world’s first PC based technology. He went on to design a piece of software by the name of QuikTix, an automated ticket ordering network.
He has even been appointed to a number of roles entirely outside of software design as well. He worked as manager for American Express’ important IT department, started up Bredimus Systems, and had the honor of becoming the inaugural president of American Airlines’ AMR Travel Services.
Though he has withdrawn from the posts in which he first experienced success, his skills are nonetheless still very much in use. He’s at work now mastering building design — blending the demands of aesthetics with increasingly sophisticated technology and honest concern for the ecology.
